Liver cancer is a major health problem and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. It is associated with many liver diseases such as Hepatitis B and C, excessive alcohol intake, NASH and NAFLD.

Approximately 30% of patients are eligible for potentially curative therapies, such as resection or transplantation but recently more treatments were available improving survival and quality of life.
